# Function: updateProjectWithBackend()

Updates a project, routing to the SCAPI or legacy backend per the given
preference (with safe `auto` fallback). The caller is responsible for
validating that supplied fields are honored by the backend that will run
(SCAPI ignores `name`/`url`; legacy ignores `sites`/architecture/cookie flags).
