# Function: updateEnvironmentWithBackend()

Updates an environment, routing to the SCAPI or legacy backend per the given
preference (with safe `auto` fallback). The SCAPI backend only changes the
display name here (the only field the `mrt env update` command exposes); the
legacy-only configuration fields are forwarded to the legacy backend.
