# Function: configSourceHint()

> **configSourceHint**(`sources`, `inspect`): `string`

Defined in: [packages/b2c-tooling-sdk/src/cli/base-command.ts:111](https://github.com/SalesforceCommerceCloud/b2c-developer-tooling/blob/8fc17d8708d025c83fb0c44ca73198a200605153/packages/b2c-tooling-sdk/src/cli/base-command.ts#L111)

Build a suffix for "X is required" config errors.

When NO config source contributed any values (no dw.json found, no env
vars, no flags — the dominant cause of these errors in telemetry), the user
is almost certainly unconfigured rather than missing one specific field, so
we point them at the configuration guide. When a source DID load, we name
the kinds of sources that loaded (never their paths or values, since error
messages are reported to telemetry) so a user who expected a different
file to apply can tell, and point at `inspect` for the details.

## Parameters

### sources

readonly `object`[]

Sources from the resolved configuration

### inspect

`string`

Command or tool that shows the resolved configuration, e.g. `b2c setup inspect`

## Returns

`string`

A "\n\n..." suffix, or '' when only derived sources loaded
